This question challenges the doctrine of God’s Divine Judgment. It seeks to confuse the Justice and Mercy of God or make God appear to be capricious in His justice. Interestingly, only Christianity offers the only logical understanding of how God’s Justice and Mercy are complementary, not contradictory. It does this by the act of Jesus’ death on the cross. His Justice against sin is satisfied there, so that His Mercy can be extended as part of His Justice to others who accept God’s Son death on their behalf. Having reconciled the Justice and Mercy of God by the cross of Jesus Christ, let us see the God of Love in action as well as the God of Judgment. The God of Love has acted in love by providing a sacrifice for sin, so that sinners do not have to go to Hell. That is what the gospel message is: sinner, be reconciled to God by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the payment of our sins. God has no pleasure in the death of sinners.

“For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.”Ezek 18:32 (KJV)

God desires sinners to be saved.

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)

But, the Lord is a God of Judgment and if the sinner continues to resist the Gospel of Grace, is it unjust that they should suffer for it? Of course Not!

“Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” Heb 10:29 (KJV)

The real question might be rephrased as: How can a sinner mock God’s Love?
